Vijftig jaar geleden nodigden The Rolling Stones ons uit voor een spectaculaire circusvoorstelling; een prestatie die tot op de dag van vandaag ongeΓ«venaard blijft: "The Rolling Stones Rock and Roll Circus". Als gastheren en hoofdattractie, traden de Stones vol overtuiging live op voor het publiek in London. Naast de Stones, verschenen ook enkele andere legendarische zangers en bands op het podium, zoals The Who, Jethro Tull, Taj Mahal, Marianne Faithfull, Yoko Ono en The Dirty Mac, de supergroep bestaande uit Eric Clapton, Keith Richards, Mitch Mitchell van The Jimi Hendrix Experience en John Lennon. De soundtrack van "The Rolling Stones Rock and Roll Circus" is uitgebreid en bevat 28 tracks, waaronder materiaal van de inmiddels overleden conceptpianist Julius Katchen, nooit eerder gehoorde nummers van Taj Mahal, en voorheen onuitgebrachte opnames van The Dirty Mac zoals de klassieker "Revolution" van The Beatles en "Warmup Jam'". Dit juweeltje werd speciaal voor de fans volledig geremixt en geremasterd.
